If you’ve recently made a Discord server to group all your gaming buddies or your friends in one place, you’ll need to set up proper roles that can determine the level of access for an individual member.

Nowadays, in large Discord servers, they usually use reaction roles to assign roles to new members automatically. Similarly, we’ll be teaching you about reaction roles and how you can set them up with the Carl-bot.

What is Carl-bot?

Carl-bot is a popular bot that sports a host of features such as posting casual memes and photos, reaction roles, logging, permission management, welcome messages and custom commands. Carl-bot’s ability to automate functions that a moderator or a server owner has to perform constantly, makes it a very popular and essential bot for many servers.

Carl-bot can also be used to post funny memes and videos

Carl-bot allows for a more pleasant experience on the server as the owner and moderators do not have to perform tiresome processes for each member, for instance, assigning roles, warning a member for violating the rules, etc. You can also use its logging feature to keep a record of a member’s violations.

FAQs

Why should I add reaction roles to my server?

Reaction roles help the server to stand out more and ensure a more efficient means of distribution for roles. Instead of moderators and the owner assigning roles, anyone can react to the message and the role will be automatically assigned.

What is Carl-bot?

Carl-bot is a versatile moderation bot that allows you to create reaction roles, log user activity, custom commands, auto-responses and much more. It is one of the most popular bots on Discord, with its website showcasing that the bot serves in over 8.8 million servers.

How many reaction roles can I set up?

You can set up to 250 reaction roles.

Carl-bot is not letting me add a reaction role for a specific role. Why?

If you’re unable to list a role as a reaction role, it might be because that role has a higher authority than Carl-bot. Promote Carl-bot and grant it all permissions so that it can manage roles freely.

Which bot should I choose MEE6 or Carl-bot?

It all depends on your preference. Both are popular bots with similar functions. You can consult each bot’s documentation to get a better idea of their capabilities and make your choice based on that information.

Only Up crashes can be caused by various things on your computer, which can include the interference of overlays with the game files, insufficient permissions of the game process to run in your Windows background, and much more.

Only Up
Only Up

In some scenarios, the game can also crash when a third-party app on your system is interfering with the game process. This can include a third-party security program or any other app running in the background. In this article, we will show you a number of methods that you can execute to resolve the issue in question.

1. Enable DirectX11

The first thing that you should start off with when troubleshooting the problem is to force the game to use a specific version of DirectX. The game uses DirectX12 by default which has been causing game crashes on various computers.

In such a scenario, you will have to force the game to use DirectX11 on your system with the help of the launch options on the Steam client to resolve the issue. This is quite easy to do, follow the instructions below:

  1. First, bring up the Steam app on your system.
  2. Navigate to Library and right-click on Only Up. Choose Properties from the drop-down menu.

    Opening Game Properties
    Opening Game Properties
  3. On the Properties screen, scroll down to the Launch Options section.
  4. In the Launch Options area, add the -dx11 command.

    Enabling DirectX11
    Enabling DirectX11
  5. Once you do that, close the Properties window and open the game.
  6. See if the problem persists.

2. Run Only Up as Administrator

In some scenarios, the ‘Only Up’ game can crash in your Windows environment because it does not have sufficient permissions to run. This happens when there are other processes interfering with it which causes it to crash. In most cases, this is caused by a third-party security program that you might be using on your computer.

If this instance is applicable, you can overcome the crashes by running the game with administrative privileges. With that, the game will have sufficient permissions and it will be able to run in the Windows environment without any issues. Follow the instructions below to do this:

  1. First, open the Steam client on your computer.
  2. Right-click on Only Up in the Library tab and choose Manage > Browse local files.

    Navigating to Installation Directory
    Navigating to the Installation Directory
  3. This will open the File Explorer window in the installation directory of the game.
  4. Locate the OnlyUP.exe file and right-click on it. Choose Properties from the drop-down menu.

    Opening Properties
    Opening Properties
  5. On the Properties window, click on the Compatibility tab.
  6. There, tick the Run this program as an administrator checkbox.

    Running Game as Admin
    Running Game as Admin
  7. Click Apply and hit OK.
  8. Finally, open the game via Steam to see if the problem persists.

3. Disable Steam Overlay

The Steam client comes with an in-game overlay that allows you to access various Steam features directly from the game. This prevents you from tabbing out of the game to reply to your friends on Steam or using the client in general, which is a great plus.

However, in order to provide the Steam overlay, the client has to interfere with the game files which can cause certain games to crash. In such a scenario, you will have to turn off the Steam overlay to prevent the issue from occurring. To disable the Steam overlay, follow the instructions down below:

  1. Launch the Steam app on your PC.
  2. Use the Steam drop-down menu in the top left corner and choose Settings.

    Opening Steam Settings
    Opening Steam Settings
  3. On the Steam Settings screen, switch to the In Game tab on the left-hand side.
  4. There, click Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game slider to disable the overlay.

    Disabling Steam In Game Overlay
    Disabling Steam In-Game Overlay
  5. Once you do that, open the game to see if the problem persists.

4. Repair Only Up Files

In some instances, the game files on the PC can also cause various crashes. This happens when the Only Up files are either corrupted or damaged which prevents the game from running properly on your system. In such a scenario, you will have to repair the Only Up game files to resolve the issue.

You can use the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files‘ feature on the Steam client to perform the repair. This allows you to scan the game files on the system for any corruption or discrepancies and download a fresh copy of any missing or damaged files from the Steam servers to your computer.

To verify the integrity of game files, follow the instructions below:

  1. Start with opening the Steam client on your system.
  2. Navigate to Library and right-click on Only Up.
  3. Then, click Properties from the drop-down menu.

    Opening Game Properties
    Opening Game Properties
  4. On the Properties window, click on the Local Files tab.
  5. After that, to repair the files, click on the Verify integrity of game files option.

    Verifying Integrity of Game Files
    Verifying Integrity of Game Files
  6. Wait for it to complete and see if that resolves the issue.

5. Update Windows

The absence of essential Windows updates can lead to several issues, from causing game crashes to even preventing the game from launching at all. This is because most new games rely on the newly introduced features provided by the operating system, which are exclusively accessible in the latest builds.

Therefore, it is important for you to install any pending Windows updates on your PC to address this problem. The process of installing Windows updates is relatively simple. Please follow the instructions below to do this:

  1. First, open the Settings app by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard.
  2. In the Settings app, navigate to the Windows Update section.

    Navigating to Windows Updates
    Navigating to Windows Updates
  3. There, click on the Check for updates option to download and install any pending updates. If there are updates already available, you will be shown the Install button instead.

    Windows Updates
    Windows Updates
  4. Once you have updated Windows, open Only Up to see if the problem is still there.

6. Update Graphics Drivers

Graphics cards are quite important on your computer, especially when you are gaming. This is because these drivers facilitate communication between your computer’s graphics card and the software, and if they become outdated, it can cause games to crash entirely.

In addition, graphics drivers can sometimes encounter corruption or damage due to a recent Windows update or something similar. Therefore, it is important to update your graphics drivers when you encounter game crashes. To perform this update, you must download the latest version available from the website of your graphics card manufacturer and proceed with the installation.

However, before doing that, you will need to use a third-party utility such as Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the drivers from your computer. You can use the AMD Cleanup Utility if you have an AMD graphics card. Follow the instructions below to update your graphics drivers:

  1. First, download the DDU utility via the official website here.
  2. Extract the downloaded file and open Display Driver Uninstaller.exe.
  3. Once DDU opens, you will be shown an Options window. Click Continue.

    DDU General Options
    DDU General Options
  4. After that, select GPU via the Select device type drop-down menu.

    Select Device
    Select Device
  5. Afterwards, select your graphics card manufacturer via the Select device menu.

    Selecting GPU Manufacturer
    Selecting GPU Manufacturer
  6. Finally, press the Clean and restart option to remove your current drivers.

    Uninstalling Graphics Drivers
    Uninstalling Graphics Drivers
  7. Once your PC starts again, head to the manufacturer’s site and search for the latest drivers for your graphics card.
  8. Install the new graphics drivers and see if that resolves the issue.

7. Perform a Clean Boot

Finally, if none of the above methods has resolved the issue, it is highly likely that a third-party program installed on your computer is interfering with the game which causes it to crash. In such cases, performing a Clean Boot can serve as a viable solution to determine if the game initiates without any complications.

A Clean Boot allows you to start Windows with only essential system services running in the background. Many third-party applications on your computer have services that automatically launch during system startup, which can potentially contribute to the problem. By performing a Clean Boot, you can mitigate such interference.

If the problem goes away during a Clean Boot, it will be evident that a background service is causing the issue. In this scenario, you will have to enable the services one by one to identify the culprit. Follow the instructions provided below to perform a clean boot:

  1. First, open the Run box by pressing the Windows key + R on your keyboard.
  2. In the Run app, put msconfig and hit Enter.

    Opening System Configuration
    Open System Config via Run
  3. This will open System Configuration
  4. Change to the Services tab and tick Hide all Microsoft services.

    Hiding Microsoft Services
    Hiding Microsoft Services
  5. Then, prevent background services on startup by clicking the Disable all option and hitting Apply.

    Disabling Third-Party Services
    Preventing Third-Party Services
  6. After that, switch to the Startup tab and click on the Open Task Manager option.

    Opening Task Manager
    Opening Task Manager
  7. On the Task Manager window, select the apps one by one and click Disable.

    Disabling Third-Party Apps
    Preventing Third-Party Apps
  8. Lastly, restart your computer to perform a clean boot.

Once your computer restarts, see if the game still crashes. If the problem goes away, you will have to identify the problematic program by enabling the services one by one.

Error code 0 indicates that Roblox is unable to process the authentication, which means something is preventing Roblox from authenticating your account access. This problem often occurs due to the corruption in the Roblox folder located in the appdata folder of Windows.

The Appdata folder in Windows saves the cache and configuration files of the applications along with the login cookies.

1. Restart the Computer and Router

The first method to resolve any technical issue is to restart the computer and the router. Sometimes, a simple restart can fix the error and resolve temporary issues. Once you have restarted the computer, restart the router. A router reboot can clear out any network-related issues that might be causing authentication failed error code 0. Once you have restarted the computer and router, check if the issue is resolved. If not, proceed to the following methods.

2. Check the Roblox server status

Before we move on to the troubleshooting steps, it is recommended to check the server status first. This is because authentication errors are often caused by the problem with the server. Therefore, make sure to check the server status before going in-depth to fix this error. To check the Roblox status, head to the status.roblox.com to see the server status.

3. Delete Roblox folder From Appdata

Almost every game and application uses the Appdata folder to store the information that it needs to access frequently. The login cookies of Roblox are also saved in the AppData folder, which it uses to recognize the user. So if there is a problem with the authentication cookies, it will cause authentication failed error code 3.

Therefore, in this step, we will try deleting the Roblox folder. Don’t worry; the Roblox will be automatically created when you relaunch the Roblox. Follow the steps to do so:

  1. Right-click the Start Menu and select Run. This will open the Run Program.
  2. Here, type Appdata and click OK to navigate to the AppData folder.
  3. Once you are in the AppData folder, navigate to the Local folder.
  4. Find the Roblox folder there and right-click on it to delete it.
  5. Once it is deleted, launch the Roblox and see if the error is resolved.

4. Clear Roblox Cache For Browser

If you use the Roblox website to launch the games, you need to try clearing the Roblox cache, which will clear the authentication cookies that might be causing the issue. After clearing the cookies, you will have to log in to Roblox, which will re-create the authentication cookies and might fix this error.

Steps to clear the Roblox cache might vary depending on the browser you are using.

  1. Click the three dots and select the Settings option.
  2. Once you are in the settings, go to Privacy & Security from the left pane.
  3. Then, navigate to the Site settings and click View permissions and data stored across sites.
  4. Here, search for the Roblox, click the delete icon, and click Clear.
  5. Once done, see if the error persists.

5. Reinstall Roblox

If Roblox still cannot authenticate you, it might be probably due to the corrupted Roblox files. So, in this method, we will try reinstalling the Roblox to ensure there are no corrupted files causing this issue. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Open the Start Menu by pressing the Win key.
  2. Type Add or remove programs and hit Enter to open the Apps & Features settings.
  3. Here, search Roblox, click the three dots, and click Uninstall.
  4. Again, click Uninstall to remove the application.
  5. Once done, download the Roblox application by navigating to their official site using the link.
  6. Once the installer is downloaded, double-click on it to install the Riblox.
  7. Then, check if this worked for you.

Keep in mind that it is not necessary to use the Roblox client version if it is not authenticating you. You can download the Roblox from Microsoft Store, which is the same as the client version. Since none of the methods helped fix this issue, it could be due to using the Roblox client version. Therefore, try getting the Roblox from the Microsoft Store instead of waiting for the error to be fixed.

The error starting experience is a network-related error that occurs when Robox cannot communicate with the server. This can happen when the server is not responding or there is a network issue preventing you from connecting to the server. Oftentimes, misconfiguration of network settings, especially the DNS settings, causes the error starting experience.

Before we jump into the solutions, it is always recommended to start by restarting the computer and the router. Restarting the computer eliminates the temporary bugs causing the issue. Restarting the router can clear out the network-related issues that might be causing this error. Once you have restarted the PC and the router, move on to the following methods to fix this error.

1. Check the server status

Since this error can be caused by a problem with the network connection, it is recommended to check the Roblox server status before making any changes to the computer. To check the server status, head to the status.roblox.com to see whether the server is up or not. If it is up, apply the following methods to fix this issue.

2. Use the Google DNS server

DNS or Domain Name System is used to translate the domain names into IP addresses to connect the users to the website or the server. By default, Windows uses the default DNS settings, which sometimes causes network errors when the DNS server does not work properly. Therefore, in this step, we will try using the Google DNS server as it is faster, more secure, and more reliable. To use the Google DNS server, follow the steps:

  1. Open the Control Panel by pressing the Win key and typing Control Panel.
  2. Hit Enter to navigate into the control panel.
  3. From here, navigate to the Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Centre.
  4. Click Change adapter settings. Then, right-click the Network Adapter and select Properties.
  5. Here, find and select the Internet Protocol Version4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  6. Now choose Use the following DNS server addresses and type the following Google DNS server addresses.
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

  7. Once done, click OK to save the DNS settings.

3. Run Roblox as an administrator

Roblox might not have the permissions to access the redistributable files required to launch the Roblox. In this case, we recommend configuring the Roblox to always run with the administrator to avoid the permission issue. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Right-click the Roblox and select Properties.
  2. In case you don’t have a Roblox shortcut on the desktop, click the Start Menu and type Roblox.
  3. Right-click the Roblox shortcut and select Open file location. Here, you will see the Roblox shortcut. Right-click on it and select Properties.
  4. Now go to Compatibility and tick Run this program as an administrator.
  5. Click Apply and OK for the changes to take effect.
  6. Once done, try launching the Roblox.

4. Disable the third-party antivirus software

In some cases, the antivirus software prevents the Roblox from launching correctly. This is because Roblox consumes a significant amount of system resources. This is especially true if the Roblox is running on an iGPU, so to prevent the consumption, third-party antivirus software blocks the executable file of the program to prevent it from running or launching on the system. To ensure that whether the antivirus is causing the error or not, you will have to disable the third-party antivirus software temporarily. Follow the steps to do so:

  1. Right-click the antivirus icon from the system tray.
  2. Hover over the option related to Disable.
  3. Then, select Disable for 10 minutes or Disable permanently.
  4. Once you have disabled the antivirus software, try launching the Roblox.

5. Reset network settings

If you are still facing this issue, try resetting the network settings. Resetting the network settings will undo all network settings configured by you. So, if this error is occurring due to misconfigured network settings, resetting them to default will fix it. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Press the Win key to open up the Start Menu.
  2. Now, type Network reset and open the network settings.
  3. Here, click Reset Now to reset the network settings to default.
  4. Once done, see if the error is fixed.

6. Use a Microsoft Store version

Roblox also has a Microsoft Store version, just like a client version. It is the same as the client version. So, if the error is not fixed after trying out the above methods, it is not necessary to use the Roblox version, as you can download the Microsoft Store version. Therefore, install Roblox from the Microsoft Store to avoid this error.

Follow the steps to download the Roblox from Microsoft Store:

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft Store and search for the Roblox.
  2. Click the Get button to download and install the Roblox.

7. Reinstall Roblox

In case nothing works for you and you are still facing the same error continuously, try reinstalling the Robkox because it is possible that you have corruption in the Roblox application files, preventing it from launching. To ensure whether the corrupted files are causing the error or not, you will have to reinstall Roblox. For that, follow the steps:

  1. Open the settings using the shortcut Win + I on the keyboard.
  2. Navigate to Apps > Installed apps.
  3. Here, find the Roblox and click the three dots to uninstall the Roblox application.
  4. Once done, press the Win + R keys simultaneously.
  5. Here, type appdata and click OK.
  6. Then, go to the Local folder and find the Roblox folder.
  7. Then, right-click the Roblox folder and select Delete.

Roblox consumes high CPU usage, up to 100%, due to misconfigured settings on Windows. If you are facing this issue, you need to ensure that settings are properly configured and the integrated or dedicated GPU drivers are up-to-date.

High CPU usage is often caused by running irrelevant background applications or having malware or viruses in the system. First, if you have a low-end CPU, you should not worry about the high CPU usage when playing Roblox. However, if you have a decent CPU with a dedicated GPU, you should troubleshoot this issue as soon as possible, as your system might be affected by the malware.

1. Disable Background Apps

Since idle background applications consume a significant amount of CPU usage, it is recommended to start by Disabling the background applications from the task manager or Windows Settings to reduce the CPU consumption. To do so, follow the steps:

Windows 10 or below

  1. Click the Start Menu and type Background Apps in the search box.
  2. Hit Enter to navigate into the settings.
  3. Toggle off the button called Let apps run in the background.
  4. Once done, launch the Roblox and see if the problem is resolved or not.

Windows 11

Unfortunately, in Windows 11, you will have to use Group Policy Editor to disable the background apps, as there is no option in Windows to disable all the background apps directly from the Windows Settings. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Press the Win + R keys and type gpedit.msc in the search box.
  2. Hit Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
  3. Now, use the left sidebar to navigate to the following path.
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\App Privacy
  4. Here, double-click on Let Windows apps run in the background.
  5. Then, select Disabled. Click Apply and click OK to save the settings.
  6. Now, launch the Roblox to verify if this has fixed the error.

2. Adjust your PC for the best Performance

Windows has many visual effects that use a significant amount of system resources. Even though they look very nice, they can also slow down the system or application performance. This is especially true if you have a low-end system. Therefore, configure your PC to produce the best performance by following the steps:

  1. Click the Start Menu and type View Advanced System Settings.
  2. Hit Enter to open the advanced system settings.
  3. Click Settings under Performance.
  4. Here, select Adjust for best performance.
  5. Then, click Apply and click OK.
  6. Once done, see if the problem is resolved or not.

3. Update or Reinstall the GPU driver

If you have a low-end CPU with an integrated GPU, you need to make sure that the latest driver is installed in your system by updating or reinstalling the driver. However, if you have a dedicated GPU, you should perform a clean installation of the GPU driver to ensure the driver you have is not corrupted or outdated.

When it comes to reinstalling the driver, we always recommend DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). It is an application that helps remove the graphics driver without any files left behind. Follow the steps to reinstall the driver even if you already have the latest driver installed.

  1. Download the Display Driver Uninstaller by navigating to the link.
  2. Then, extract the downloaded DDU zip folder using WinRar or 7zip.
  3. Once done, open the extracted folder and run the 7zip DDU file.
  4. Click Extract and navigate to the extracted folder.
  5. Now open the DDU application.
  6. Select the Device and the GPU vendor from the right pane.
  7. Click Clean and restart to uninstall the driver.
  8. Once done, you will have to install the latest driver. For that, go to your GPU manufacturer’s website.
  9. Search for the latest driver and download it according to your operating system.
  10. Once done, install the driver.
  11. Restart your computer and see if this resolves the issue or not.

4. Add Roblox in Graphics Preferences Settings

Graphics preferences settings is used to configure the application to run with high performance. It is also used to select whether to use iGPU or dedicated GPU to run the application. Since you are facing high CPU usage, you can try adding Roblox to the graphics preferences settings. This will distribute an equal load to your CPU and GPU, which should automatically reduce CPU usage. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Press the Windows key and type Graphics Settings.
  2. Hit Enter to navigate to the settings.
  3. Here, click Browse and navigate to the directory where the Roblox is installed. You can right-click Roblox and select Open file location to find out the directory of the Roblox.
  4. Once done, select the RobloxPlayerBeta.exe and click Add.
  5. Once added, select the Roblox and click Options.
  6. Then, select High Performance and click Save.
  7. Now verify if the issue persists.

5. Check for malware scan

When applications consume high CPU usage, it is often due to malware or viruses injected by third-party or untrusted applications. If the issue persists after following all of the above methods, it is highly recommended to scan your computer using a third-party or built-in antivirus program. We recommend using the built-in Windows Defender to scan your system.

Follow the steps to scan your computer:

  1. Press the Win key and type Windows Security.
  2. Hit Enter to navigate into the Windows Security settings.
  3. Go to Virus & threat protection and click Scan options.
  4. Here, either select Full scan or Microsoft Defender Antivirus (Offline Scan).
  5. Then, click Scan now to start the scanning process.
  6. Once done, see if the issue is resolved or not.

6. Try using a Microsoft Store version

There is also a Microsoft store version of Roblox that is the same as the Roblox client version. When users encounter issues with a Roblox client version, we recommend installing a Microsoft Store Roblox version. To do so, simply follow the steps:

  1. Open the Microsoft Store and search Roblox.
  2. Here, click Install and wait for the installation to be completed.
  3. Once done, launch the Roblox and open the task manager to see if the CPU usage has reduced or not.

7. Reinstall Roblox

After following all the methods, if the CPU usage is still high, try reinstalling the Roblox because it is possible that the Roblox files become corrupted, causing high CPU usage. Therefore, try reinstalling Roblox to ensure there are no corrupted files in the Roblox folder.

To reinstall the Roblox, follow the steps:

  1. Press the Win key and type Add or remove programs.
  2. Hit Enter to navigate into the Apps & Features settings.
  3. Here, find the Roblox and click the three dots on it.
  4. Then, click Uninstall.
  5. Again, click Uninstall to remove the Roblox.
  6. Once done, press the Win + R keys simultaneously to open the Run Window.
  7. Type appdata in the input box and click OK.
  8. Navigate to the Local folder and find the Roblox folder.
  9. Right-click on it and select Delete.
  10. Once the folder is removed, proceed to install the Robkox from the official website.

Usually, “out of memory” errors arise when there is no memory left to use for the the application. This often happens when you don’t have enough physical memory installed according to the requirements of the program you are running. However, but sometimes this error can occur for various other reasons as well for example a background process consuming more memory than the application you are running.

According to user reports from reddit.com, this issue often occurs due to having incorrect GPU overclocking settings. DirectX is a collection of APIs that allows applications to communicate with the GPU. However, when a user overclocks the GPU incorrectly, it causes various different issues, including this one.

Now, let’s have a look at some of the best solutions that worked for several affected users.

Before we proceed to troubleshoot this issue, make sure to close each and every application, especially the unnecessary apps to reduce the memory consumption.

1. Restart File Explorer

Since out of memory error is caused by the lack of memory, we can start by restarting Windows Explorer, which will eliminate the background applications and other unnecessary processes that might be causing this error. After restarting the Windows Explorer, it is recommended to ensure that no other programs are running in the background as they can consume memory usage for no reason. Follow the steps to restart the Windows Explorer:

  1. Right-click the Taskbar and select Task Manager to open it.
  2. Here, right-click the Windows Explorer and select Restart.
  3. Once done, see if the error is resolved.

2. Increase Virtual Memory

Virtual Memory can be allocated from the drives to keep the system running efficiently. When an application runs out of memory, it often crashes or stops working. However, if you have configured your system to allocate the virtual memory, the application won’t crash or stop working.

This is because virtual memory will play a key role in keeping the program running. Increasing a virtual memory means when there is a memory shortage, the system will transfer the data into the disk storage that has been allocated from the drive.

Since this error occurs due to the shortage of system memory, it is recommended to increase the virtual memory by following the steps:

  1. Press the Win key and type View advanced system settings.
  2. Hit Enter to open the settings.
  3. Click Settings under the Performance option.
  4. Go to Advanced from the top and click Change.
  5.  Untick Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.
  6. Here, you will have to put the values of the initial size and the maximum size. The initial size should be 1.5 times of physical RAM installed, and the maximum size should be 3 times the initial size. So let’s say you have 4GB of physical RAM, so the initial size should be (1 GB = 1,024 MB 4,096 MB X 1.5 times = 6,144 MB), and the maximum size should be  (3 x 6,144 = 18,432 MB).
  7. Once done, click OK and click Apply.
  8. For the changes to take effect, you will have to restart the computer.

3. Close overclocking applications

Having an overclocked GPU often causes an out-of-memory error with the DirectX. If you have overclocked your GPU through MSI Afterburner or any other application, kindly revert the overclock settings as it can cause the out of memory error.

When it comes to overclocking, you should be careful because if you configure overclock settings incorrectly, it will cause crashes and errors like this one. So, if you are unsure about your overclock settings, try reverting them by following the steps:

  1. Simply open the MSI Afterburner or any other overclocking application.
  2. Click the Reset icon to revert the overclocking settings.
  3. Once done, additionally, you can close or uninstall the overclocking application.

4. Reinstall the graphics driver

Another reason that often causes the out of memory error is a corrupted GPU driver. Since DirectX is used to make communication between the GPU and the application, it is essential that the GPU driver should not be corrupted as it could lead to this error.

In this case, we recommend reinstalling the GPU driver using the DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). It is an application that is often used to remove the GPU driver completely from the system.

Follow the steps to perform a clean installation of the GPU driver:

  1. Download the Display Driver Uninstaller by visiting the link.
  2. Once it is downloaded, right-click the DDU zip folder that you have downloaded from the link.
  3. Then, extract the DDU zip folder using any archive utility such as WinRar or 7zip.
  4. Once done, go to the extracted folder and run the 7zip extractor.
  5. Then, click Extract, and this time, navigate to the extracted folder.
  6. Double-click the Display Driver Uninstaller to run the application.
  7. Then, select the GPU and the GPU vendor from the right side.
  8. Finally, click Clean and restart.
  9. Once the driver is completely uninstalled, restart your computer. Then, proceed to install the GPU driver.
  10. To install the GPU driver, simply go to the official GPU manufacturer’s site.
  11. Search for the latest driver and download the latest one from there.
  12. Once done, restart your computer and try running the game or application, causing DirectX run out of memory error.

5. Run SFC/ scannow

DirectX consists of many DLL files, which means if one of them is corrupted, it will cause the DirectX to stop working. A DLL file contains a code that is required to perform a necessary action. However, when it gets corrupted, it causes a DLL missing error along with this error message.

To troubleshoot this issue, we have an sfc/ scannow command, which will restore the corrupted DLL files from the cached folder located in %WinDir%\System32\dllcache. To run the Sfc command, follow the steps:

  1.  Press the Windows key to open up the start menu.
  2. Here, you need to type Command Prompt, then right-click on it to select Run as administrator.
  3. Once it is opened, type the following command.
    sfc /scannow

  4. Hit Enter to execute. Once done, Then see if the DirectX run out of memory is fixed.

6. Reinstall the DirectX

Finally, if nothing works for you, you can try reinstalling the DirectX component. However, when it comes to out of memory errors, reinstalling the program does not work. Since none of the methods worked for you, in this case, we recommend reinstalling DirectX by following the steps:

  1. Download the DirectX installer from the link.
  2. Once it is downloaded, double-click on it to run the installer.
  3. Then, accept the agreement and follow the further instructions to install the DirectX.
  4. Once done, verify if the error is resolved or not.

Throughout this guide, we have covered almost every solution for different situations. In case you are still facing the same error, in this case, the only thing you can do is to reinstall or upgrade the Windows. We have given the instructions in the articles, so visit to reinstall or upgrade Windows.

Steam error code 107 indicates there is a network problem preventing Steam from loading. This often happens due to a DNS problem in the network settings.

A DNS (Domain Name System) is used by applications and browsers to convert domain names into IP addresses. This is because browsers and applications cannot understand the human-readable names, so they need DNS to convert the human-readable names for them into IP addresses so that they can contact the server.

Despite a DNS problem, there can be other leading causes that could trigger this error, such as a lack of permission when running Steam and having an incorrect time and time zone. Now, let’s look at the solutions that could fix this error.

1. Flush Your DNS

Flushing the DNS clears the DNS records and IP addresses from the DNS cache. DNS stores the record of the server IP addresses and domain names that the user visits frequently. Flushing the DNS helps resolve connectivity issues if there is a problem with the DNS. Since this error often occurs due to a problem with the DNS, it is best to start by clearing the DNS cache. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Click the Start Menu and type Command Prompt.
  2. Open the Command Prompt as an administrator and type ipconfig/flushdns.
  3. Hit Enter to execute the command.
  4. Once done, see if the Steam error code 107 is fixed.

2. Power cycle your router

To perform a power cycle, you will have to disconnect the cables from the electric power. Then, wait for at least 2-3 minutes. Once done, plug the power cables back and turn on the router. Once done, see if you are encountering the error or not.

3. Sync Date and time

You may have an incorrect time and time zone that might be causing the Steam error code 107. Steam error codes are often caused by having the incorrect time and time zone on the system. So, in this method, we recommend synchronizing the time with the Windows server. To do so, follow the steps:

  1. Go to Settings by pressing the Win + I keys simultaneously.
  2. Then, go to Time & language > Date & time from the left sidebar.
  3. Here, make sure the Set time automatically option is turned on. Then, ensure the correct time zone is selected.
  4. Once done, click Sync now to synchronize the time with the Windows time server.
  5. Now verify whether the steam is showing the error code 107 or not.

4. Use Google DNS

Google DNS (Domain Name System) is one of the best DNS servers, especially when it comes to gaming. As we already mentioned, the DNS is required to convert the domain names into IP addresses, so there should not be a problem with the DNS, as it could lead to Steam error code 107. Now, to change the DNS server, follow the steps:

  1. Use the Win key to open the Start Menu.
  2. Here, type Control Panel and hit Enter to navigate into the control panel.
  3. Go to the Network & Internet  > Network and Sharing Center.
  4. Click Change adapter settings to view the network adapters.
  5. Then, right-click the Network Adapter and select Properties.
  6. Here, select the Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
  7. Here, select the Use the following DNS server addresses.
  8. Now, type the following DNS server addresses and click OK to save the settings.
    8.8.8.8
    8.8.4.4

  9. Once done, try launching Steam to see if the error is fixed.

5. Run Steam as an administrator

If you have not tried running Steam as an administrator yet, doing so will give privileges to Steam to access the necessary DLL and redistributable files that it requires to run properly. Follow the steps to configure the Steam as an administrator:

  1. Right-click the Steam and select Properties.
  2. Go to Compatibility and tick Run this program as an administrator.
  3. Click Apply and click OK.
  4. Once done, launch Steam to see whether the issue is resolved or not.

6. Reset network settings

Misconfigured network settings also cause various network errors such as this one. Since we know that this error can be caused by the network issue, it is recommended to try resetting the network settings. Resetting the network settings resolves issues when there are misconfigured network settings, such as proxy and DNS settings.

Follow the steps to reset the network settings:

  1. Press the Win key and type Network Reset in the Window search.
  2. Open the Network reset settings and click the Reset Now button to reset the network settings.
  3. Once done, verify if this worked or not.

7. Use a VPN

If the error still persists, try installing the VPN application. VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows users to change their location to access restricted content. However, when there is a network issue from the backend, connecting a VPN often resolves it. Therefore, we also recommend installing the VPN application to resolve this error. There are many VPNs available, and we have a complete guide on Best VPN in 2023. You can visit the guide to select the best VPN for yourself.

8. Reinstall Steam

If you are still facing the error, finally, you can try reinstalling Steam. However, you can wait for some time, as this error might be occurring due to a problem from the server side. Therefore, you can wait for like 1 to 2 hours to ensure whether the problem is from the server side or not.

If you cannot wait, you can try reinstalling the Steam. But before that, make sure to check the Steam server status. If the servers are up, then proceed to reinstall the Steam.

  1. First, right-click the Steam and select Open File Location.
  2. Then, go to Steamapps > Common.
  3. Here, copy all the game’s folders you have installed.
  4. Then, paste them somewhere as a backup.
  5. Once done, go to Settings by pressing Win + I.
  6. Then, go to Apps > Installed Apps.
  7. Here, search Steam and click the three dots.
  8. Then, click Uninstall.
  9. Again, click Uninstall to remove the Steam application.
  10. Once done, download the Steam app installer by navigating to their official site.
  11. Then, run the installer to install the Steam app.
  12. Once done, see if the error persists.

Even though this error should be resolved after applying the above methods, in case the error still persists, then try contacting Steam support. The support team can better guide you about this error message. However, you can also try waiting for some time to get this error automatically resolved.

Starfield Error Code 0xc000005
Starfield Error Code 0xc000005

This can be caused by an antivirus program on your machine, or your user account missing the needed permissions to the game files. We will be showing you how to resolve the error code in Starfield in this article quite easily, so just follow through.

1. Run Starfield as Administrator

The first thing that you should do when fixing the 0xc000005 error code is to run Starfield as an admin. Since the issue is related to an access violation, running the game with administrative rights can allow it to access the resources it needs without any interference.

This can also potentially fix any file read and write permissions with the game process as well. To run the game as an admin, follow the instructions below:

  1. First, open the File Explorer and navigate to the installation folder of the game. If you have the game on Steam, you can do this by right-clicking the game and selecting Manage > Browse local files.

2. Disable Third-Party Security App

Another potential cause for the 0xc000005 error code in Starfield could be the security program on your system. Antivirus programs are notorious for interfering with other processes running in Windows, which can cause them to malfunction at times.

If the antivirus program on your PC is blocking the game process access to files that it requires to start, you will end up with the 0xc000005 error code. In such a situation, you will need to disable the antivirus program to see if that gets rid of the issue.

In case the problem goes away when you disable your antivirus, you will need to add the game process to the whitelist. This will stop the security program from interfering with the game process, and or blocking the access that the game needs. If this does not resolve the issue, move to the next method below.

3. Take Ownership of the Game Folder

One of the reasons that you can encounter the issue in question is when your user account does not have the required permissions over the game. As such, when you launch the game, the process inherits your permissions and it is unable to access its own files properly.

In such a situation, you will need to take ownership of the game folder on your PC to resolve the issue. To do this, follow the instructions below:

  1. First, open the File Explorer window and navigate to the installation folder of Starfield.

5. Delete Starfield Shaders

Starfield stores generated shaders on your computer for the sake of improving performance as you play the game. This shader cache is stored in the local AppData directory of your system drive. In some instances, the shader cache can get damaged which causes the game to crash on startup, resulting in the 0xc000005 error code.

As such, you will need to clear out the cache to resolve the issue. This is rather simple to do, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the Run app on your PC with the Win key + R shortcut.
  2. Then, type in %localappdata%\Starfield and press Enter.

Navigating to Starfield Folder in Local AppData

  3. In the File Explorer window, delete the Pipeline.cache file.
  4. Once you do that, launch the game to see if the issue persists.

6. Remove DirectX Shader Cache

The DirectX Shader cache on your computer is helpful as it reduces the load times with rendering the textures and graphics in your game. However, if the shader cache is corrupted, it can cause the game to throw up the error code in question.

In such an instance, you will need to use the Disk Cleanup utility to clear the DirectX Shader Cache on your PC. Use the instructions below to clear the DirectX shader cache:

  1. First, open the Start Menu and search for Disk Cleanup.

    Opening Disk Cleanup Tool

Fatal D3D Error in the new Resident Evil 4 is often the outcome of the graphics settings that you are using in the game. These settings can include the usage of the Ray Tracing technology or higher VRAM usage by the game process which it is not able to source from the graphics card.

Resident Evil 4 Fatal D3D Error
Resident Evil 4 Fatal D3D Error

In such an instance, the game results in a crash and throws the error message in question. Tinkering with the graphics settings of the game can often help you resolve the issue, and when it does not, there are other solutions in the article below to help you get out of the plight.

1. Disable Ray Tracing

The first remedy that you should implement when encountering the D3D error in Resident Evil 4 is to disable Ray Tracing in the game settings. This is a feature from NVIDIA that allows games to depict the lighting and shadows in games more accurately with the help of the RTX cards.

Improper implementation of the technology can often cause different games to crash, which seems to be happening with Resident Evil 4 as well. In such an instance, disabling Ray Tracing should help you isolate the issue. If you are an AMD user, you will have to turn off FidelityFX Super Resolution.

  1. First, open the game and navigate to the Options menu.

    Navigating to Options Menu
    Navigating to the Options Menu
  2. Then, switch to the Graphics tab.
  3. Finally, locate the Ray Tracing option to turn it off.

    Disabling Ray Tracing

2. Reduce Shadow Quality

Another potential cause of the issue can be the shadow quality of the game. This happens when the shadow quality is set to Max in the game settings, resulting in frequent D3D error crashes. Such issues are the outcome of poor optimization of the game at different instances, and thus, can only be patched by the developer team.

However, in the meantime, you can lower the shadow quality in your game settings to overcome the issue. Follow the instructions below:

  1. Start by opening the game.
  2. Go to the Options menu on the main menu.

    Navigating to Options Menu
    Navigating to the Options Menu
  3. Then, switch to the Graphics tab and locate the Shadow Quality option.
  4. Lower the setting from Max to High or below.

    Changing Shadow Quality
    Changing Shadow Quality
  5. Once you do that, see if the problem still occurs.

3. Lower VRAM Usage

The VRAM usage of the game can also trigger the D3D error on your PC. This usually happens when the game is not able to source the amount of video memory required to render the environment on your PC, causing it to crash.

In such an instance, you will need to lower the VRAM usage of the game in the graphics settings to resolve the issue. If you have a high-end PC, it is likely the issue is being caused by a specific graphic setting, which is why lowering the graphics preset often fixes the issue. As such, you can try tinkering with the graphics settings individually to see if that resolves the issue.

If your VRAM usage is red or orange, you will need to lower the quality preset until the VRAM text becomes white. Follow the instructions below to do this:

  1. Open the game and go to the Options menu.

    Navigating to Options Menu
    Navigating to the Options Menu
  2. Then, switch to the Graphics tab.
  3. After that, use the Presets option to select a lower graphics preset to reduce the VRAM usage.
  4. Additionally, you can also choose a lower texture quality via the Texture Quality option which will reduce the VRAM requirement as well.

    Changing Texture Quality
    Changing Texture Quality

4. Disable Shadow Cache

Shadow cache is an option in Resident Evil 4 that caches in-game shadows in your memory. Depending on your PC specifications, the game stores static shadows in the memory to improve the overall performance, instead of loading the shadows as you move through the area.

Disabling the shadow cache can help in isolating the D3D error, especially if your memory usage is reaching its limit. To do this, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the Options menu in Resident Evil 4.

    Navigating to Options Menu
    Navigating to the Options Menu
  2. Then, switch to the Graphics tab and scroll down.
  3. Locate the Shadow Cache option and turn it off.

    Disabling Shadow Cache
    Disabling Shadow Cache

5. Remove NVIDIA Freestyle Filters (if applicable)

NVIDIA Freestyle is a feature in GeForce Experience that allows you to change the appearance of a game by applying different visual filters. This happens with the help of real-time post-processing filters. Since this is achieved by interfering with the game, it can cause the game to throw up the D3D error.

As such, if you are using NVIDIA Freestyle filters in Resident Evil 4, you will have to remove them to resolve the issue.

  1. First, open the game on your computer.
  2. After that, press the ALT + F3 shortcut on your keyboard to bring up the NVIDIA Freestyle overlay.
  3. Then, use the remove icon next to the filters you have applied. Do this for all of the filters you are using.

    Removing NVIDIA Freestyle Filter
    Removing the NVIDIA Freestyle Filter
  4. Once you do that, click Done and see if the problem goes away.

6. Delete Resident Evil 4 Config

Resident Evil 4 stores a local on your computer that contains various settings and configurations you have applied to the game. This config file is loaded every time the game starts. If the config file gets damaged, it can cause the game to throw up the D3D error.

In such an instance, you will need to delete the config file on your computer. This will reset the settings but you will be able to get rid of the issue. A new config file will be generated automatically on the subsequent launch. Follow the instructions below:

  1. Start by opening the File Explorer window.

    Opening File Explorer
    Opening File Explorer
  2. Then, navigate to the Documents > My Games > Capcom > RE4 directory.

    Navigating to Documents Folder
    Navigating to the Documents Folder
  3. Locate and delete the config.ini file.
  4. Open the game and see if the error message still occurs.

7. Reinstall Display Drivers

Another cause of the D3D error in Resident Evil 4 can be the video drivers on your system. Such instances are possible when the display drivers are damaged on your system, or you are running an older version that is not fully compatible with the new game.

In such a circumstance, reinstalling the display drivers on your PC should allow you to solve the problem. To do this, you will need to use a third-party utility to completely uninstall your current drivers. We will be using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in this article.

  1. Start by downloading DDU from the official link here.
  2. Then, extract the file and run the Display Driver Uninstaller.exe executable.
  3. After that, click Continue on the Options pop-up that appears.

    Options Screen
    Options Screen
  4. Once you do that, you will need to specify GPU from the Select device type menu.

    Select GPU as Device
    Select GPU as the Device
  5. Then, you will need to select your GPU brand in the Select device menu.

    Choose GPU Brand
    Choose GPU Brand
  6. To uninstall the drivers, click the Clean and restart option.

    Uninstall Graphics Drivers
    Uninstall Graphics Drivers
  7. Wait for the PC to boot up.
  8. Then, navigate to your video card brand’s website and download the drivers available for your card.
  9. Install them and see if the D3D error persists.

8. Clean Boot your System

Clean booting your system is an effective way of verifying if an issue is caused by third-party interference. Such scenarios occur quite commonly with the increasing number of background processes and services on our PC.

A clean boot starts the computer with only the system resources running in the background. The process involves disabling third-party apps on startup, along with any respective services.

If the game runs smoothly in a clean boot, you will need to uninstall the problematic app that you can identify by turning on the services one by one. Follow the instructions below to perform a clean boot:

  1. First of all, open the Run dialog box. You can do this by pressing the Win key + R shortcut.
  2. Then, open the System Configuration window by entering msconfig in the Run box.

    Opening System Config
    Opening System Config
  3. After that, go to the Services tab and use the Hide all Microsoft services checkbox to only show third-party services.

    Hide System Services
    Hide System Services
  4. Disable the third-party services by clicking Disable all.

    Disabling Startup Services
    Disabling Startup Services
  5. Click Apply to save the changes.
  6. After that, make your way to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.

Open Task Manager via System Config
Open Task Manager via System Config
  7. This will open a Task Manager window.
  8. From the list of apps, select each individual app and hit Disable.

    Turning off Startup Apps
    Turning off Startup Apps
  9. Finally, reboot your system to execute a clean boot.

9. Remove Overclock

Finally, if the above methods do not isolate the D3D error in Resident Evil 4, your last step should be removing any overclocks you have applied to your components. This mainly includes the graphics card or the processor on your computer.

Such occurrences are common with overclocked components where newer games are not properly optimized to run on them. This can also include any undervolts applied to the graphics card as well. Once you have reset the clock speeds, see if the problem persists.

That is it, one of the above solutions should help you in getting rid of the D3D error message in Resident Evil 4. The error message is mostly a result of your graphics settings, which is why tinkering with them can often help you resolve it. Keep the VRAM usage of the game and modern features such as Ray Tracing in mind when you encounter such an issue to easily resolve it.

Are you still facing the D3D error in Resident Evil 4?

If you are still facing the error message in Resident Evil 4, you will have to reach out to the game support team via Capcom’s official support website. Create a ticket regarding your issue on the website and the customer support team will be able to reach out to you as soon as possible.

If you’re seeing the “User is Banned” message while trying to play Halo Infinite, it means your account has been temporarily suspended. But this message does not provide any further information, such as the cause of the ban and how long it will last.

Halo Infinite User is Banned Fix
Halo Infinite User is Banned Fix

In this situation, you might be wondering how long this ban will last, what caused it, and how you can appeal it to get unbanned. To make your life easier, this guide will provide answers to these questions, helping you understand the ban’s duration, the reason behind it, and how you can get unbanned.

Why Did I Get Banned in Halo Infinite?

Players can get banned for a multitude of different reasons in Halo Infinite. For starters, there are the usual reasons that apply to any competitive game, such as using third-party cheating tools, abusing teammates/opponents in text and/or voice chat, and violating the game’s Terms of Use.

But besides that, Halo Infinite has a very specific Code of Conduct that has been put in place by the developers to ensure fair play and a positive gaming experience for all the players. If you violate any rule/policy of the Code of Conduct, you’ll likely be banned.

Below, we’ve listed all the violations that can get you banned from the game:

  • Constantly dodging matches or quitting/disconnecting during matches.
  • Being AFK (idle) for too long during matches.
  • Not getting any kills during a match and/or killing your own character.
  • Deliberately killing teammates or causing friendly fire.
  • Having an inappropriate username or impersonating an admin’s username.
  • Repeatedly reporting your teammates/opponents without having a valid reason.
  • Receiving a large number of reports on your account from other players.
  • Creating a new account to circumvent a ban on another account.
  • Exploiting the matchmaking system to get easier opponents (also called “Smurfing”).

The key takeaways from this list are that staying AFK for too long during matches, frequently abandoning matches, and consistently underperforming (not getting kills) can get you banned – even if you’re not doing these actions intentionally. Do note that you can get banned in both ranked and unranked matches

Therefore, it’s extremely important to have a stable internet connection while playing the game to prevent disconnections and ensure your active participation in matches.

This also means that even if your teammates have abandoned the match, you should still play it to the very end instead of abandoning it yourself (even if it’s an unranked match). And if you’re playing a game mode like Fiesta, you should never kill your own character to get a better gun.

The next most important thing to note is that it’s not a good idea to create a new account to play if your main account has been temporarily suspended. Since the game can track your IP Address, you’ll end up getting banned on the new account as well.

How Long Will the Ban Last?

The duration of your suspension depends upon how many times you’ve been banned before. Each time you get banned in Halo Infinite, your subsequent ban will be longer than the previous one. For your first even ban, the duration of the suspension will only be 5 minutes. But if you keep getting banned, the duration can go up to 16 hours.

  1. First Ban – 5-minute duration.
  2. Second Ban – 15-minute duration.
  3. Third Ban – 30-minute duration.
  4. Fourth Ban – 1-hour duration.
  5. Fifth Ban – 3-hour duration.
  6. Sixth Ban – 16-hour duration.

An extremely important thing to keep in mind is that currently there’s no way to reset your ban counter. This means that if you’ve been banned twice before, your next ban is guaranteed to be 30 minutes long. And as of right now, there’s nothing you can do to reset your ban counter so that your next ban is 5 minutes long.

How to Appeal a Ban in Halo Infinite

While Halo Infinite’s Code of Conduct is intended to ensure that the game stays free of cheaters, toxic players, and smurfs, sometimes players can get banned for no good reason. For example, the game’s servers might crash, causing the players to automatically abandon the game, and this can result in the players getting a suspension for quitting the match.

If you’re a player who believes they’ve been wrongfully banned, you can appeal your ban to the moderators. If they agree with your reasoning for the appeal, they may reduce the ban duration or remove it entirely from your account.

Follow the steps below to appeal a ban in Halo Infinite:

  1. Visit the Halo Waypoint website.
  2. Press the Sign In button at the top-right corner and sign into your account.

  8. Give a detailed description of why you think the ban is unfair in the text area at the bottom.
  9. Attach any video/image of the incident if available and then press the Submit button.

Once you’ve submitted your ticket, your next step is to patiently wait for the Support Team’s review and response. Do note that the Support Team is only available from Monday to Friday during PT business hours

It’s important to understand that there is no guarantee that the team will overturn your ban or reduce its duration. If they determine that the ban was justified, it will remain on your account as it is.
