AMD Radeon RX 7500 Specifications Leaked, 28 Compute Units, 8GB of 16Gbps Memory With a Nominal 130W TBP

Hardware leaker All_The_Watts has revealed the specifications of AMD’s Radeon RX 7500. For a bit of history, All_The_Watts has previously leaked the performance levels of the RX 7700 and the RX 7800. So the leaker does have a good track record and adequate credibility.

Today, we have the RX 7500, boasting 28 Compute Units and 8GB of GDDR6 memory. This GPU is the successor to the notorious RX 6500 XT, which suffered from severe bandwidth limitations. We hope that will not be the case for this budget offering.

RX 7500 Specifications, 28 Compute Units & 8GB of Memory

The Radeon RX 7500 will make use of AMD’s Navi33 GPU, which goes to a total of 32 Compute Units. It is a slightly toned-down variation of the RX 7600, also based on Navi33, featuring just 12.5% fewer cores. For reference, the RX 6600 packed 28 CUs, with the RX 6500 XT limited to just 16.

Moreover, AMD has retained a memory buffer similar to the RX 7600. However, the introduction of slower GDDR6 memory results in a bandwidth loss of 32GB/s. The real world difference between the two should be minimal, at around 5-10%.

To make up for these lower specs, the Total Board Power is rated at 130W, almost 20% lower than the RX 7600. That’s efficient if AMD retains sufficient performance. Thus far, this may be the first sub $200 GPU by AMD this generation. Moreover, if it goes neck to neck against the RX 6600, it will make for a solid budget offering.

Pricing (UPDATE)

As a small update to this article, the leaker expects the MSRP to be around $219. That is considerably high when compared to our initial expectations. For context, most RX 6600 models go for around $200. We hope this price tag is just a placeholder and not the final MSRP.

Release Date

AMD will unveil the RX 7700 and RX 7800 during Gamescom this month. Read our article for more information regarding those two GPUs. The RX 7500, on the other hand, could be a surprise reveal at the same event or could be planned for a later date.

In any case, the price tag is the deciding factor. We currently expect AMD to launch this GPU for $199, however, that may change based on how the RTX 4050 performs. There is a famous quote;
