Several major international gaming studios, including Epic Games and Krafton, have announced their partnership with Samsung Electronics to create exclusive customised games for the Galaxy Fold. It has been decided that more “foldable-specific content” in the global market is needed to rapidly expand the market for foldable smartphones. Samsung Electronics is planning to set itself apart from Chinese rivals by promoting Galaxy foldable phones with games designed just for them.

The “Gaming Task Force (TF) Team” is now reportedly active at Samsung Research in four countries: South Korea, the United Kingdom, China, and Ukraine, according to reports by the industry.

Gaming TF is collaborating with major publishers all over the world to create original games for foldable smartphones like the Galaxy Z Fold and the Flip 5. Epic Games in the United States, Krafton, NCSoft, Nexon, Smilegate, Kakao Games, and Pearl Abyss are all working together on this. Samsung Electronics and game developers are using a “hotline” to collaborate on new game creation and popular titles’ optimization for foldable phones.

Market research firm TrendForce predicts that only 1.6% of all smartphones will be foldable models shipped this year. According to Samsung Electronics, the market for foldable phones would benefit from more media attention (games, etc.) being devoted to the form factor. As the game’s screen is twice as tall as a regular phone’s, it’s being considered as content that can showcase the benefits of a foldable device.

Customizing Games for Foldable Devices

Samsung is certain that its foldable display technology represents a major technological breakthrough. However, in order to make foldables as popular as expected in the premium smartphone market, it will be necessary to provide killer content or software, such as UI/UX designs.

“As smartphone performance improves, an environment has been created where high-end games can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere,” stated an executive from the video game industry.

User-created content is what will make the Galaxy Fold and Flip 5 series the best gaming machines, according to TM Roh, president and head of Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) division. The company introduced two models of its Galaxy Z foldable phone series, now in its fifth generation, in July of this year.

The benefits of foldable phones, which have larger screens than standard smartphones and can utilize one side of the screen like a joystick, will be fully implemented in upcoming games. Users of Fold and Flip phones can utilize either display as a game screen, with the other serving as control buttons, or both screens can be utilized simultaneously to create a more immersive gaming experience.

Exposure for Game Developers

When game developers team up with Samsung, they gain access to the company’s vast consumer base, which includes 1 billion Galaxy smartphone users.

Ares: Rise of Guardians,” created and distributed by Kakao Games in collaboration with Google Inc., will be released by Samsung in August next year. This mobile game is compatible with Samsung Galaxy devices.

Ares Rise of Guardians | Kakao Games

“Collaboration with digital content providers is as important as telecom companies like AT&T and retailers like Best Buy,” a Samsung official stated.

Collaboration with Google

Samsung Electronics has big hopes to grow its Galaxy foldable smartphone industry by integrating it into more and more games. Samsung’s mobile game industry is anticipated to grow with the introduction of the “Samsung Gaming Hub,” a cloud gaming platform tailored specifically for Galaxy devices. This will be made public in the first quarter of next year. Accessing the gaming hub and playing foldable-optimized games will be simple for Galaxy customers.

The business isn’t only focusing on games, though; it also wants to create a UI and UX design for foldable cellphones. For this reason, Samsung Electronics is communicating extensively with Google, the maker and provider of the Android operating system.

Earlier this week, Google updated it’s beta downloads page to include Android 14’s first Quarterly Platform Release (QPR1), that gave us a bit of an insight into what to expect from the official release three months from now, as part of December’s Pixel Drop.

A lot of subtle changes were made, such as adjusting the aspect ratio of individual apps, finding your phone even when it’s off, and other quality of life improvements among better customization options. After a long wait, Google finally gave us the ability to customize the lock screen clock in Android 14, and now they are taking it a step further by working on a landscape mode for the lock screen.

While it may not have a lot of benefits on the surface of it, the aesthetic element does come into play, and if they could do the same for the AOD, the feature would feel quite similar to the StandBy mode on iPhones. However, the use-cases might differ.

Regardless of that, Google is working on improving the lock screen even further, as seen in Android 14 QPR1. In this release, Google has added in a new clock style called “Metro,” that is essentially a two line digital clock, made out of stripes of two contrasting colors. Here’s how it looks:

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Moto has been actively and consistently introducing a multitude of new phones in recent days, all falling under their popular G Series lineup. Among their latest releases are the Moto G14, G54, and G84 models.

We can confirm that Moto is gearing up to launch a tablet in India. The tablet will be called as Motorola Tab G84. This tablet will serve as a successor to the previously announced Moto Tab G70, which made its debut in January of last year. We have obtained the exclusive renders of the upcoming Moto Tab G84 from our reliable sources. The renders reveal complete design of the device.

Moto Tab G84 Renders:

  • Moto Tab G84

As seen from the renders, the Moto Tab G84 will feature a relatively substantial amount of bezel on all four sides of the device. In terms of its design, the tablet will incorporate a landscape-oriented selfie camera. Moving to the rear of the tablet, it showcases a metallic body with a dual-tone color texture. Furthermore, the tablet will come equipped with a single 8MP camera, as clearly indicated by the printed text near the camera module. This 8MP camera will be complemented by a flash.

Towards the upper part of the tablet’s back, there is a small cut-out, likely intended for use as a magnetic connector for a stylus pen. The iconic Motorola logo is centrally positioned, adding to the tablet’s branding. Moreover, the tablet will be equipped with JBL speakers, boasting support for Dolby Atmos, as indicated by the branding on the back of the device.

On the lower edge of the tablet, you will find the Pogo PIN connection featuring three contact points, potentially serving as a docking interface for a keyboard accessory. On the right side of the tablet, two speakers and a USB-C port are clearly visible.

Other than these renders, we do not have the tablet’s specifications and pricing details. However, we anticipate that more information about the Moto Tab G84 will become available in the coming days. Stay tuned for updates as we eagerly await further details on this new device.

The reason Google Pixel has become the pioneer in the Android smartphone space is not due to its hardware or aesthetics, but rather the software experience it brings to the table. The fact that every software has bugs isn’t new, but some features are just MEANT to work, regardless of the factors affecting them.

One of these features is surely having your calls connect to emergency services when you need them. For any company out there, there shouldn’t be an excuse for this not to work. However, it seems like the dynamics are different for all the Pixels out there.

Almost two years ago, the first reports of Google phones being unable to connect to emergency services surfaced online, and since then, many more people have spoken up. The important thing to understand here is that no one dials 911 happily while lounging on their couch, but rather does so only in an emergency situation.

Initially, Google blamed the Microsoft Teams app for this issue, but people who didn’t have it installed also faced the same problem. Regardless of that, Microsoft released an update for Teams and stated that the issue seemed to primarily affect users running Android 10 and above.

Over the past year, there have been numerous reports, mostly targeting the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. However, earlier today, we encountered another report of a Pixel failing to connect to emergency services, and this time, it was a serious matter!

A man attempted to dial 911 when his infant daughter was allegedly choking on something, but fortunately, she managed to clear her airway without any blockage. The concerning aspect here is how this situation could potentially be a life-saving feature, but if such an incident occurs, one should not anticipate the user returning to the same brand again. Not to mention the potential repercussions on social media.

That’s why it’s an opportune moment for Google to consider introducing satellite connectivity in its upcoming phones. Having a backup in place is crucial in case such an eventuality arises in the future.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

After a successful year in sales, Samsung will be looking to further bump up its production for the next year when S24 series is expected to release.

According to industry reports, Samsung will be eyeing the 30 million mark for the whole of S24 series, half of that (15 million) will be reserved for the Ultra, and the remaining to be divided into the base S24, and the Plus model.

Samsung will be looking to maintain it’s high sales number for the Ultra specifically, since that is where the company generates more profits. The phone has a better profit margin, while taking up the same space as the lower priced models in shipping.

This increase in production is about 23% higher than last year where Samsung closed in on ~34 million units in total for the S22 series. According to Counterpoint Research, the Galaxy S23 has sold 23.6 million units in its first 6 months, which is 18.6% more than the Galaxy S22.

In addition to this, the suppliers collaborating with Samsung will begin mass production of components in November – a month earlier than last year’s S23 series, which begun in December 2022. This is because Samsung might be bumping up the production early to improve it’s inventory, or could be to push sales, since they’re projecting strong growth in the coming 2-3 years.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Google has never been one to play the guessing game when it comes to their new devices. They’ve always been pretty upfront about what they’re working on, and they’ve never been afraid to show us the designs early. They themselves showcased the upcoming Pixel 8, months before the official launch, and now have uploaded a teaser, showcasing the Pixel Watch 2 alongside Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.

While the design might not surprise anyone as it’s already been seen before, Google’s focus has never been solely on creating the sleekest-looking phone. Instead, they prioritize their strengths, which lie in their software.

For both, the Watch 2 and the Pixel 8 series, nothing was revealed regarding the internals or software in this teaser. It simply showcased the phone’s design, alongside new colors – Pink on the 8, and Porcelain on the 8 Pro.

The Pixel 8 seems a tad-bit smaller than its predecessor, and rumors point to the fact that it indeed will be 6.17″, instead of the regular 6.3″ on the Pixel 7 and 6.4″ on the Pixel 6. Google, over the past few years has been intentionally toning down the size of the base Pixel, probably targeting the compact phone category.

As for the Pixel Watch 2, it seemed quite identical to the original Pixel Watch, the difference being the Porcelain band. Google will (and has to) work on the hardware element this time around, since this is what kept pulling the Watch (1) back in terms of it’s sales and user reliability. This year will surely be interesting since Samsung Watches will finally have a worthy WearOS competitor for the first time in ages.

Google’s hardware event, where both the devices are scheduled to launch, will be held on October 4th in NYC, so stay tuned for updates on that. We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop as new information becomes available.
