After weeks of rumors, we finally have confirmation on the 15-inch MacBook Air, unveiled at the WWDC, starting in at $1299.

15-Inch MacBook Air | Apple

For the “all-new 15-inch MacBook Air,” the base model starts at an attractive price point of $1299 ($1199 for education customers), making it a compelling option for a wide range of users. Apple continues to offer the 13-inch MacBook Air, which now starts at $1099 ($999 for the M1 variant).

The 15-inch MacBook Air has the basic features that were previously expected. Apple proudly claims that it’s “the only 15-inch laptop that has it all.

The new MacBook Air has an impressive 2x faster performance, thanks to the power of Apple Silicon. It is a remarkable 12x faster than its fastest Intel-based predecessor. Multitasking, demanding applications, and resource-intensive workflows are now a breeze on this sleek machine.

The display of the 15-inch MacBook Air has ultra-thin 5mm borders, and the Retina display supports 500 nits of brightness, resulting in vibrant colors and sharp details. Whether you’re working on creative projects or enjoying multimedia content, the display of the MacBook Air elevates the overall user experience.

Apple has also said that they’ve pushed the boundaries of battery life with the new MacBook Air. It boasts an impressive 18 hours of battery life. As for the dimensions, it is just 11.5mm thin and weighing only 3.3 pounds, meaning it is the thinnest and lightest 15-inch laptop available today. It also supports Magsafe charging, has two Thunderbolt ports, and a headphone jack.

The MacBook Air features a three-microphone array, and it also boasts six speakers, including force-canceling woofers.

Why MacBook Air 15 Inch is a better option than the MacBook Pro.

Keeping all things in mind, if you aren’t in a very specific situation, the new MacBook Air will do just fine. In a lot of cases, it is a better option than the MacBook Pro for most consumers. It offers the same powerful M2 chip, but in a larger and more portable design. The Air (15 Inch) also has a larger display, longer battery life, and a more affordable starting price.

In my opinion, the MacBook Pro is only worth considering if you need the extra performance of the M2 Pro or M2 Max chips. These chips are designed for professional users who need to do demanding tasks like video editing or 3D rendering. However, for most consumers, the M2 chip in the MacBook Air 15 Inch is more than powerful enough.

MacBook Comparison | Apple

In terms of design, the MacBook Air 15 Inch is a clear winner. It is thinner and lighter than the MacBook Pro, and it has a more modern design. The MacBook Air 15 Inch also has a larger display, which is great for watching videos or working on multiple documents at once, which for a lot of people is what they need.

If you can cut-off a few unneeded features of the Pro, MacBook Air 15 Inch is more reasonably priced than the MacBook Pro. This is because it does not have the same premium features, such as a Touch Bar or a higher-resolution display. However, for most consumers, these features are not necessary.

As for the practicality, the Air (15 Inch), has a wider range of ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a MagSafe 3 port. The MacBook Pro only has two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Moreover, it has a better webcam, with a resolution of 1080p instead of 720p, and a brighter display, with a peak brightness of 500 nits instead of 400 nits.

Overall, keeping all aspects in mind, the MacBook Air 15 Inch is the better option for most consumers, considering the price. It is more powerful, portable, and affordable than the MacBook Pro. If you are looking for a high-performance laptop that does not break the bank, the MacBook Air 15 Inch is one you should look into.
