From a straight-up failed launch to selling 3 million copies within a week of its DLC release (Phantom Liberty), Cyberpunk’s renaissance story is one to tell. The game is shaping up to be a massive success, more like what it was originally intended to be.

CD Projekt Red is now looking to cash in on this opportunity, expanding the Night City beyond just the game itself. The developers of Cyberpunk have now partnered up with media group Anonymous Content, (who’ve previously produced award-winning shows like True Detective and Mr. Robot) to work on a live-action project.

At this point, nothing about the nature of this project has been publicly revealed. We do not know whether it will be a movie or a TV show, but it is still in its early stages of development. The studio is also looking for a screenwriter to narrate the entire story for the project, which suggests that the idea has not yet begun to be implemented practically.

It been said that the project “will be developed in close collaboration with the Cyberpunk 2077 creative team,” but that’s not all for the franchise.

During the investor presentation today, CDPR’s SVP of business development, Michał Nowakowski, mentioned that the franchise is also closely working with Studio Trigger, the animation studio behind the critically acclaimed Cyberpunk TV show, Edgerunners. However, due to legal bounds, we may have to wait a bit more.

We have an appetite to do more in the transmedia [space], so in linear visual animation or live action, and those plans have not changed, so when we are ready you may expect to see more announcements in that regard coming from us”.

Michał Nowakowski

To be clear, CDPR has a lot on its plate. It is currently planning the sequel to CP2077, codenamed Project Orion, which is in its “[initial] conceptualization stage“, like the live-action project. This is all we know at this point, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as any new information on the project surfaces online.

This year has not been kind to the game development industry, with many studios facing layoffs. The list is long, but major studios such as 343, SEGA, CD Projekt Red, Firaxis, Riot, Take-Two, EA, and Ubisoft have been affected, along with many indie studios. While this does not necessarily mean that the industry is declining, it can actually be detrimental to existing projects.

Another studio that is reportedly being added to this list is Naughty Dog, the developers behind Uncharted and The Last of Us. According to Kotaku’s sources, Naughty Dog is laying off its employees short of their contract periods. However, the staff has been told to keep the news under wraps till the end of this month when their contract is terminated officially.

Sources tell Kotaku that no severance is being offered for those currently laid off, and that impacted developers as well as remaining employees are being pressured to keep the news quiet. Their contracts won’t be officially terminated until the end of October and they’ll be expected to work through the rest of the month.

via Kotaku

As a result of this, ~25 employees were affected, not including the full-time staff, which still remains at 400. However, the worst aspect of this news is how The Last of Us’ rumored multiplayer mode, Factions might not see the light of the day due to the downsizing. Although the layoffs do tend to disturb ongoing projects, the reasoning for this particular scenario is partially different.

TLOU Factions | Naughty Dog

Last year, the project was positioned to be as big as a standalone multiplayer game, not just a game mode. Naughty Dog even citied it as the “most ambitious project the studio has ever taken.” But in June, it was reported that an internal review by Bungie prompted Sony to pull resources away from the project, the future of which is now “basically on ice.”

Nothing has been said officially, but the future for the project doesn’t seem that all too bright. With that said, we will make sure to keep you updated on all developments as new information becomes available.

After the success of Starfield, Microsoft has experienced a surge not only in its console sales but also in its Game Pass subscriptions. The company would surely want to carry this momentum further, and in the run-up to the release of Brooklin next year, the Redmond-based tech giant is reportedly working on two new, unannounced IPs at the moment.

A recent find by @bogorad222 on X shows that Kate Carson, the senior business development manager for Microsoft, had listed on LinkedIn that she recently worked on “two unannounced IPs” from Microsoft.

Worked on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Halo Infinite, Grounded, As Dusk Falls, CrossfireX, Nobody Saves the World, five unannounced Xbox Game Studios 1PP titles, one unannounced ID@Xbox and Game Pass title, and two unannounced licensed IP titles”

Kate Carson – Senior Business Development Manager at Microsoft

To be fair, one of these IPs could actually be from Bethesda, which we covered last month. If so, it is said that it may be under the Disney banner. However, at the moment, not much else is known about the game or its release. We also can’t confirm whether it’s from Microsoft itself or a third-party acquired studio.

While Xbox is still far behind Sony in recent years, Microsoft appears to be working diligently on drafting long-term strategies, particularly with the acquisition of Microsoft ABK to take the lead in the console race. Not only that, but it also seems to be expanding beyond that, emphasizing the significance of Game Pass and the role it may play in the future.

With all of this in mind, exclusives have played a significant role in Sony’s success with PlayStation. Microsoft appears to be investing quite a bit in this aspect, and while they may lag behind in the numbers game, the company has produced some great titles in the recent past.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Last week, a Brazilian trailer for Spider-Man 2 was released on social media that went viral for including Venom. It showed our beloved heroes, Miles and Peter, fighting together against the supervillain. The same trailer also highlighted Peter’s updated face model which did receive positive reactions online. Overall, it was another great showcase for the upcoming game.

Today, just a few minutes ago, Sony has now “officially” released the full version of the same trailer on YouTube. This one is longer, clocking in at over a minute, compared to the previous version which was only about 30 seconds long since it was actually a TV spot, and also in a square aspect ratio. Take a look:

As you can see, this trailer focuses on Peter & Miles fighting together echoing the game’s tagline “Be Greater, Together.” Venom is shown looking beastly and menacing, towering through the streets of New York easily taking on both Spider-Men at the same time. Though, we see them pulling some cool tricks together as well to stop Venom including Miles’ own Venom blast (electric shock).

This is an extended look at Venom that expands upon the previous Brazilian trailer and shows a few extra scenes. Keep in mind that this is a CGI trailer and not a cutscene or anything. Regardless, we have attached our favorite screenshots from the trailer for you to view below in glorious 4K. The detail in these pictures is honestly incredible.

Marvel Games has been struggling miserably with its last few releases. Just today, Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel Avengers has been delisted from stores and won’t be available to buy. The game will receive no further updates.

Marvel Avengers | Crystal Dynamics

Not only that, but Netmarble’s Marvel Future Revolution was previously shut down, only on its second anniversary. Marvel Heroes Omega, Marvel Avengers Academy, and Marvel Realm of Champions all failed to captivate the interest of the general public, and hence were closed down.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2, both seemed to be promising releases, however soon after UA2’s launch, the game was delisted from all digital stores and were available as physical copies only.

With that being said, it’s not all doom and gloom for Marvel’s gaming franchise. Marvel’s Spider-Man proved to be a massive hit, generating over 33 million sales worldwide. Not only that, but fans are eagerly waiting for the sequel, Spider-Man 2, which is scheduled to release on October 20th.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 | Insomniac Games

While it’s true that Marvel’s gaming division has not been able to achieve the level of popularity and acclaim that it had hoped for, but the future does looks promising. According to a recent tweet by @CanWeGetToast, Marvel is planning to shift its focus entirely on its video game division.

He claims that the upcoming Iron Man game by EA’s Motive Studio and the Black Panther game will be “the start of a push for something BIG.” Moreover, since Marvel’s Wolverine is also being developed by Insomniac Games, the same studio behind Spider-Man, there is a possibility that the two games could be connected in some way or another, creating a whole ecosystem of a superhero gaming franchise.

Marvel could very well snap back into the gaming industry if they focus on the genre and the quality of their games. Some great games like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s Midnight Suns did underperform despite having a decent launch, however with Iron Man and Black Panther, it’ll surely be intriguing to see how the games perform and if this would be Marvel’s card for redemption.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Marvel Spiderman 2‘s has reportedly gone gold, and is well within the last month of it’s release. After Insomniac announced the game in 2021, the studio kept it’s cards close to its chest, and the trailers and leaks have showcased quite a bit of what to expect from the upcoming title.

For starters, the game will feature new villains and the ability to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales, however there’s more it it. The game, unlike it’s predecessors will not be restricted exclusively to Manhattan, but will also explore more of New York, with the Queens and Brooklyn.

Now, a new trailer for the game has surfaced online, giving us a final look at what to expect from the game. The trailer, in Spanish was uploaded to Creed’s YouTube channel.

https://youtu.be/_BNsz1KjF1U?si=g2qqW1OJG7nlScUK

UPDATE: The YouTube video has since been copyright claimed and taken down but the video has been re-uploaded to X:

While it doesn’t reveal a whole lot of new information, it does give us an idea of the direction the game will likely be taking. It also gives us a glimpse of the size of Venom (previously known), which is humongous compared to Spiderman, so much so that Peter and Miles are seen taking him on altogether.

Since the trailer is in Spanish, here’s what Peter says:

‘You’ve never gave up. You’ve never surrendered. I also will never. This is my power, my responsibility… I AM SPIDER-MAN!”

This is the first time we see both Spider-Men go up against Venom, together, which promises a really exciting fight in the game. Spider-Man 2 releases next month, on October 12th on PS5 exclusively. Till then, this is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

After the release of arguably the best video game this industry has ever seen – GTA V, Rockstar remained silent for another half-decade before releasing Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. Initially, the game was well-received, and despite being overshadowed by the success of GTA, people quickly realized what a huge masterpiece the game was.

With each passing year, the game became more popular, and it currently sits at 55M+ sales worldwide cementing it’s place as one of the top 10 best-selling video games of all time. A successful release like this has to cash in every opportunity to grow. For GTA, it was the online multiplayer, but for RDR2, it wasn’t the case, unfortunately.

Now, it’s come to light that there is a small possibility that Red Dead Redemption 2 might make it’s way over to Nintendo Switch. After all, the game had been released on all major consoles at the time of it’s release, but till now, hasn’t been ported over to the next-gen consoles (PS5 & Xbox Series X/S).

Red Dead Redemption 2 Rated for Nintendo Switch in Brazil

Necro Felipe, head of Nintendo news site, Universo Nintendo recently shared an image, showing how RDR2 has been rated in Brazil for Nintendo Switch. Now, there is no concrete evidence of this happening – no official announcements of sorts has been made, but again, this is as much of an official proof as we can get.

Keep in mind that Red Dead Redemption 2 has not yet been ported over, mainly due to hardware constraints. However, one can make a case for how even games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Witcher 3, and Doom Eternal have also made their way over to the platform without issues.

Whatever the case may be, Nintendo is currently the only mainstream console with ~130M sales under it’s belt. Logically speaking, these numbers don’t represent the actual nature of this argument since it’s been almost seven years since it’s launch, but even combining PS4 and PS5’s sales altogether, we reach at ~160M sales, which is comparison makes Switch look significantly better at this point.

If RDR2’s ported over to the Switch, it’ll be the biggest (console) platform to support the game. However, with Rockstar neck deep into the development of GTA VI, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll go out of their way to optimize the game specifically for an aging console. But, at the same time, who knows – maybe the listing pointed towards Switch’s successor.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Microsoft suffered a major leak earlier this month, as part of the FTC’s ongoing investigation into the company buying Activision Blizzard.

This leak put forward a trove of emails and presentations, dating all the way back to 2019. Amongst these emails was a roadmap for Bethesda’s upcoming projects, some of which were still unannounced, like Doom Year Zero and Fallout 3 Remaster.

In the midst of all this was a licensed IP game, something that piqued a lot of interest – slated to release in the fiscal year 2024. But what could it be?

Well, in a recent episode of the XboxEra podcast, Shpeshal Nick, in a discussion with Jesse Norris and Aarsal, mentioned how “a little birdie” told him that the licensed IP is under the Disney banner. However, this itself opens up a whole bunch of possibilities, since Disney isn’t just affiliated with a small number of IPs.

Nick did say that this was “all he was allowed to say.” However, there are some speculations: the IP could be related to Marvel or Star Wars, but it could also be something else. The door for guessing is wide open!

Keep in mind that it’s been some time that we’ve been hearing rumors for a Mandalorian game under development, and this could finally be it. However, due to the nature of this leak, we really can’t be sure.

On the other hand, in the same discussion, Nick also mentioned how Elder Scrolls VI would be exclusive to the Xbox and it was “no use debating” over it.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Apple is working to make the iPhone 15 Pro model into a gaming powerhouse, thanks to the A17 Pro chip’s impressive performance and its ability to run demanding games. If you’ve enjoyed previous entries in the Resident Evil series, you’ll likely be excited for this next entry. The review units of the flagship devices came preloaded with Resident Evil Village so that critics could see how well the device handled the demanding survival horror game. There was a lack of information on the game’s formal release till now.

According to a recent report by Gematsu, Resident Evil Village for iPhone 15 Pro will launch on October 30. Capcom also confirmed that the iPad version of the game would launch on the same day. Resident Evil Village for the iPhone 15 Pro will cost 4,990 yen (about $33.50) in Japan. Furthermore, you may spend an additional $13.50 (or 2,000 yen) on in-app purchases. Despite its high price tag, the game is sure to win over a huge number of followers.

Resident Evil Village Pricing | Gematsu

There will be a mobile-optimized version of Resident Evil Village on the iPhone 15 Pro. Regarding the game’s performance, Apple has capped the frame rate with HDR to 30fps, which should provide smooth gameplay without any hiccups. On the iPad, the title will be available only on iPad Air and iPad Pro models with M1 or higher processors.

External Gamepad Support

If you’re eager to get your hands on Resident Evil on the iPhone 15 Pro or iPad, you’ll be happy to know that it’s playable with external gamepads. Connecting an iPhone 15 Pro to an external display and using a DualSense controller are just two examples. When contrasted to the handheld mode, the whole experience would be greatly enhanced.

A release date for Resident Evil 4 has also been scheduled for later this year. While we don’t know much about the release just yet, we do know that it’ll be available on iOS devices and Macs. Stay tuned because we will be covering the release as soon as it becomes available to the public.
