Industry Insider: Microsoft Very Happy with Hi-Fi Rush Dev Tango Gameworks

About 3 months ago, a debate about the commercial performance of Hi-Fi Rush sparked on the internet, initiated by none other than the well-known industry insider, Jeff Grubb. According to him, at that time, what he had heard was that Hi-Fi Rush didn’t make the money it needed to make.

However, the Xbox Marketing head, Aron Greenberg cleared the air by responding that ‘Hi-Fi RUSH was a breakout hit for us and our players in all key measurements and expectations.’

Now fast forward 3 months, Jeff Grubb claims that Microsoft is very happy with Tango Gameworks, the studio behind Hi-Fi Rush, and the popular Evil Within franchise. He also revealed that Microsoft is considering reinvesting in Tango Gameworks as it firmly believes that the studio has a lot of potential and will continue to do great things in the future.

Jeff Grubb said the following in the latest episode of Game Mess Decides while discussing the latest milestone of 3 Million players achieved by Hi-Fi Rush:

Microsoft is very, very happy with that studio [Tango Gameworks]. They like that studio a lot and are reinvesting in it. They care a lot about that studio having a bright future. So, take those things as you will.

To me, that sounds like, regardless of how it’s [Hi-Fi Rush] performed in terms of raw numbers, they think that the studio is going to keep doing great.”

Recently, it was revealed that Hi-Fi Rush, which was shadow-dropped earlier this year at Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass, has achieved an impressive number of 3 Million players.

It is important to note that this number does not necessarily mean that the game has sold 3 million copies, as it was also available on Xbox Game Pass. So, the majority of these players might be from Xbox Game Pass. Still, it is a plausible achievement as it shows that 3 Million players have taken interest in the game.

And according to Jeff’s recent statement, Microsoft is very happy with the success of Tango Gameworks and Hi-Fi Rush, regardless of the raw sales numbers it generated. It will be interesting to see how things will go for Tango Gameworks in the future, with Microsoft’s plans to reinvest in the studio.

Fans of the work of Tango Gameworks are surely in for a treat, as this means you can expect more projects from the studio. Only time will tell what the future holds for Tango Gameworks and its fans.

That’s all the information we have about this for now, but we will surely keep you posted upon receiving any further details about this news. Until then, let us know your thoughts about this news in the comments section below.
