Fortnite X Doctor Who Collaboration is Completely On Hold, It’s Claimed

The rumored crossover between Fortnite and Doctor Who has generated significant interest among fans. Although there’s been no official confirmation from either Epic Games or the BBC, dedicated Fortnite dataminers and leakers have previously shared some insights about the upcoming collaboration.

But there’s a bummer for the fans awaiting this crossover: it is now being claimed that the Fortnite x Doctor Who Collaboration is completely on hold. This information comes from the well-known Fortnite leaker, FNBRintel, on Twitter/X. They have also revealed some new information about the delay.

According to their post, the project is currently on hold due to concerns about its alignment with the show’s timeline.

The collaboration is temporarily on hold because of concerns about how its release around December/January might impact the show’s timeline.”

Various components of the collaboration, such as the Event Pass, limited-time challenges, creative experiences, and attendance rewards, are all being reconsidered and reworked during this pause.

While the collaboration was previously intended to release in the first Quarter of 2024 (after the initial delay), now the release date of the event is completely uncertain.

Information Leaked About Fortnite x Doctor Who So Far

Rumors about Fortnite x Doctor Who began in April 2023 when iFireMonkey, a Fortnite leaker, tweeted about the crossover. Initial rumors suggested a November 2023 release to coincide with Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary. But it was later revealed (by the leakers) that the collaboration has been delayed, as Epic Games is prioritizing the LEGO Universe collab in November 2023. And now it has been delayed indefinitely.

According to information leaked by Fortnite dataminers, this collaboration will introduce a range of new elements to the game, offering players a fresh experience.

Central to the collaboration is the Event Pass, which grants players access to themed cosmetics upon completion of U.N.I.T quests centered around detecting Residual Energy and gathering Intel. The rewards include Level Up Tokens and various accessory cosmetics like Loading Screens, Wraps, Gliders, Emoticons, Sprays, Banners, Emotes, and Back Bling

Although these items can be obtained for free through the Event Pass, they are also expected to become available for purchase in the Item Shop at a later date.

A selection of core cosmetics tied to the collaboration will be available for purchase using V-Bucks in the Item Shop. These include the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Doctor Skins, the Tardis Glider, the Psychic Paper Emote, and the Sonic Staff and Dalek Manipulator Arm Harvesting Tools. Players can choose to buy these items individually or in bundled packages.

The crossover will extend beyond cosmetics, affecting the in-game environment as well. U.N.I.T Outposts will emerge along highways and roads, housing interactable objects related to U.N.I.T quests. There is also talk of the introduction of a Meep Star Cruiser, an additional element for players to explore.

Gaming dynamics will see the inclusion of two new weapons, namely the Wrath Warrior Hand Cannon with a “Hold-to-Hurt” mechanic, and the U.N.I.T Advanced Rifle featuring player-tracking capabilities.

For players wanting an alternative to the Battle Royale mode, the Fortnite x Doctor Who Creative map is rumored to offer a distinct experience. This map will allow players to navigate various planets with the Tardis as their guide, complete with voice acting and an associated Spray that can be earned through gameplay.

The delay is undoubtedly disappointing for fans, as it pushes the collaboration further away from Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary.
