Assassin’s Creed Mirage German Rating Confirms Microtransactions in the Game

Update: Ubisoft has released additional information concerning cosmetic bundles in the game Assassin’s Creed Mirage, following a public conversation surrounding the game’s microtransactions. The company has shed light on what players can anticipate in terms of cosmetic items.

According to Ubisoft’s clarification, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will include cosmetic bundles that players can buy directly from official online stores when the game is launched. It’s important to note that these bundles will be entirely optional and will not influence the advancement of player progress within the game.

In a statement made to TrueAchievements, Ubisoft stated,

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will feature some cosmetic bundles that will be purchasable directly on first-party stores at launch. These will be optional and have no impact on player progression.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has recently been rated in Germany and has received a USK 16 rating, making it suitable for children aged 16 and above in accordance with Art. 14 of the German Children and Young Persons Protection Act (JuSchG).

Violence: The game contains powerful depictions of violence that can appear realistic or are the main theme of the game.

The game contains the additional feature of ‘In-Game Purchases.’

In-Game Purchases: The game offers options to purchase additional content directly. These often include smaller additional items, such as “bonus levels,” “skins” (outfits for game characters), virtual coins, and other forms of in-game currency, as well as subscriptions and upgrades (e.g., to disable advertising). In-game purchases are mostly optional and not necessary to progress in the game.”

Fans are skeptical about the in-game purchases and the upgrade to disable advertising, as mentioned in the rating description above. To clarify the in-game purchases part, YouTuber Jonathan, who has previously leaked information about Assassin’s Creed Mirage, shared an in-game image showcasing the ‘Fire Demon Pack’ in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. 

This bundle apparently consists of cosmetic/gear items or simply cool in-game skins available for extra money, which confirms the presence of microtransactions in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Is It Bad That Assassin’s Creed Mirage Has Microtransactions? 

Fans on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours have differing opinions on this matter. Some are genuinely disappointed that Ubisoft seems to be following the same formula as in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, despite promising Assassin’s Creed Mirage to be closer to the original Assassin’s Creed games. 

Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage would feature a nostalgic blue filter to recreate the color grading similar to the first game. In response to the microtransactions confirmation, one user in the comments of the post said:

Micro transactions, more fantasy stuff, and reskinned Valhalla gameplay and movement despite the hype for a “return to the old style.” I’m really disappointed in what this game really is, but to be fair, it was just a DLC at first.”

Another user stated that they don’t expect anything different from Ubisoft:

It’s Ubisoft we’re talking about. Doesn’t surprise me one bit since I lost all faith I had in them back in the day.”

However, some fans present another perspective and think that since Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a single-player experience, cosmetic bundles like these would not have any significant impact on the gameplay experience and can be easily ignored.

Still a single-player game that no one has to pay for or use those ridiculous gears. I mean, it is not like CoD where operators run around with Santa Claus skins that break the gritty tone of the game. I played Valhalla for more than 190 hours and never used any of those mtx skins. People have a bias against Ubisoft. They aren’t perfect, but they receive more hate than others.”

Another user expressed that this isn’t a big problem and can be easily ignored:

Don’t see the problem. It’s a single-player game, so if you don’t want any cosmetics, they are very easy to ignore, just as they were in all the previous AC games.”
