Final Fantasy XIV Online is Coming to Xbox Series X|S

Final Fantasy XIV Online has been officially confirmed to be coming to Xbox Series X|S. The announcement was made at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest 2023 in Las Vegas, where fans gathered to witness the exciting news revealed by FFXIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer.

Phil Spencer expressed his excitement for the partnership and the potential it holds for the future. Both companies are committed to bringing fantastic gaming experiences to players worldwide, and this collaboration marks the beginning of a fruitful relationship between them.

What I really appreciate about [Naoki Yoshida] and your team is you put the player at the center of everything that you do. It couldn’t be more clear than watching your presentation today. At Xbox, we share a very similar spirit when it comes to our players.

And we’re really inspired by how you have made Final Fantasy XIV with [everyone] a global success, and we want to bring the Xbox community and your Warriors of Light together in a way that is safe, secure, and engaging—and above all, fun.

And we also see this as a seminal moment in our relationship with [Square Enix] and the Final Fantasy team as we look to partner more closely together in the future.

The entire Xbox team is excited to see how our newest Warriors of Light will use the full capabilities of Xbox Series X and Series S to help save Eorzea. And I’m excited to partner with you, Yoshida-san, and your studios as you bring this incredible franchise to global platforms to enable more players to connect and experience the joy of gaming together.”

About Final Fantasy XIV

For those unfamiliar with Final Fantasy XIV Online, it is the fourteenth mainline game in the Final Fantasy series. However, like all mainline numbered Final Fantasy games, each entry is a standalone experience that requires no previous knowledge of the franchise. This makes FFXIV the perfect entry point for newcomers to embark on an unforgettable gaming journey.

The appeal of FFXIV goes beyond battling massive monsters as a personalized Warrior of Light. Players can engage in various activities such as gathering materials and crafting items, encountering beloved series staples like Chocobos, Moogles, and Airships, enjoying mini-games and mahjong at the Gold Saucer, and even acquiring a house to call their own. The game caters to different playstyles, offering an adventure tailored to each player’s preferences.

For those concerned about playing an online multiplayer game without a party, FFXIV has a solution. The Duty Support system enables players to tackle content with a party of NPC allies instead of relying on other players. This feature allows players to experience the rich stories of Eorzea at their own pace and comfort.

How to Play It?

The arrival of Final Fantasy XIV Online on Xbox Series X|S is set to take place during the open beta as part of the Patch 6.5x series. Players can expect enhanced 4K support on Xbox Series X and fast loading times on both Xbox consoles, ensuring a visually stunning and seamless gaming experience in the world of Eorzea.

Players will also have the opportunity to join the adventure without any monetary commitments through the Final Fantasy XIV Online Expanded Free Trial. This offer grants access to A Realm Reborn, as well as the award-winning Heavensward and Stormblood expansions up to level 70, with no playtime restrictions.
