Blizzard Brings PC Games to Steam, Starting with Overwatch 2

Blizzard has recently announced that it will be bringing its PC games to Steam starting on August 10th. The first game to make the move will be Overwatch 2, with more titles to be announced in the future.

In the past, we’ve seen how Blizzard has traditionally released its games exclusively through its own Battle.net launcher. However, the company has said that it is making the move to Steam in order to “make our games as easy as possible to access and play,

And, it’s true. Steam is the most popular PC gaming platform in the world, with over 120 million active users. By making its games available on Steam, Blizzard will surely be able to reach a much larger audience.

Battle.net is the home of all our PC players, and over the years, we’ve evolved our platform to support updated technologies, capabilities, and our communities’ expectations.

Also, existing players will not have to worry about their games being removed from Battle.net. They will still be able to access their games from Battle.net, but they will now have the option to choose their preferred launcher.

There is no confirmation yet if Blizzard games that will be heading over to Steam will also be available to play on Steam Deck. However, if they are, this will be a HUGE! Imagine being able to play Overwatch 2 on a portable handheld device, anywhere you go…

Some people have said that this move is linked to Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. However, there is no way to know for sure at this point. The developers have said that more information will be provided later on, including the names of the games that will be making the shift.

[We will be] sharing more about potential other games coming to the platform when the time is right.”

In the meantime, we can all be excited about the prospect of having Blizzard games on Steam. It will also be interesting to see how this move affects the future, and sales for Blizzard. This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
