Actor’s Facebook Post Suggests that Call of Duty 2024 is Set in the Gulf War

Actor Luke Charles Stafford has announced via Facebook that he will be playing the role of ‘Ratcliffe’ in the upcoming 2024 Call of Duty title by Treyarch Games. The news was shared with Insider Gaming. Actor’s Facebook post shows various images and videos of Stafford at what appears to be a Call of Duty mocap studio.

Stafford’s Facebook post read, 

Activision decided to adapt their next main character, ‘Ratcliffe’ for CALL OF DUTY off of my face / likeness, and I am elated. To all of my college roommates back at Anderson University and those years in Smith Hall playing Black Ops II… Next year, we can beat the snot out of each other again, but I want to play as me. PS. – I think I’ll continue with the hair net in public from now on.”

The reference to “next year” is presumably because the game is scheduled for release in 2024. The videos shared by Stafford show him interacting with the Call of Duty team, with one team member even sporting a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 t-shirt, the latest installment of the franchise.

The character ‘Ratcliffe’ could potentially be based on the real-life British Army soldier Peter Ratcliffe, a veteran of the Parachute Regiment and the Special Air Service, who was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallantry in action during the Gulf War. 

Call of Duty 2024 Set in the Gulf War: It’s Been Known for a While Now!

Rumors have been circulating that the 2024 Call of Duty game will be a continuation of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and will be set in the Gulf War era. These rumors began after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year.

According to the well-known Call of Duty leaker, TheGhostofHope, the 2024 game will also focus on the 2003 Iraq War and occupation, as well as “Operation Enduring Freedom,” the codename for the Global War on Terror initiated by President Bush. There may also be missions based on the Battle of Mogadishu, as depicted in the movie Black Hawk Down.

Recently, another prominent Call of Duty leaker, CoD_Perseus, tweeted reiterating that the 2024 Call of Duty game is set in the Gulf War era, reigniting discussions about the game’s setting. 

While it’s been unofficially confirmed that Call of Duty 2023 will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there’s been no official announcement yet. However, fans are already speculating about the story and setting of the 2024 game.
