Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Director Always Wanted a Third Game

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director, Stig Asmussen, had previously expressed his vision of the franchise as a trilogy while speaking with IGN.

I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?

We had a pretty decent idea of the timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there’s ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.”

It’s Not About If, It’s About When

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released on 28th April 2023. The game received critical acclaim, earning a Mighty rating on OpenCritic with an 88% recommended score from critics and an average score of 84 from top critics. Additionally, it achieved an impressive average Metascore of 82.33 on Metacritic across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

The game not only garnered critical acclaim but also achieved commercial success. However, the PC version was not all that great at launch, fans on the PC platform reported technical bugs that hindered their gaming experience.

Similarly, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was also a critically acclaimed game, receiving numerous award nominations. Fallen Order proved to be a huge commercial success, selling around 10 million copies within one year of its release as revealed by EA in 2020.

So, considering the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, it’s not a matter of whether there will be a third game in the series; it’s a matter of when the third game in the Star Wars Jedi series will be released.

The release gap between Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor is about 3 years. Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that the next game in the series is still a few years away. However, it’s great news for the fans to learn that the next game is already in development.
